My experiments with cooking go way back, when I stayed in a hostel for my higher studies. The ‘Mess’ (literally) food was good just to satisfy the stomach, not the palate. I really missed my mom’s food then. I still do.

A self confessed foodie, I love trying out new recipes. I am not a health freak; but I enjoy recipes that add nutritional value to food- Specially when I am cooking for my kids.

Giving up a lucrative career tinkering with Analytical equipments, I now prefer to tinker in my Food lab- developing new recipes & satisfying my culinary travel cravings. I am happy to share my culinary experiments and some heirloom recipes here in my virtual kitchen.

I bake to feed my soul and love to photograph food since it makes such a patient subject 🙂

I am based in the ‘Winecapital’ of India-Nasik.When not cooking or baking, I can be seen getting my hands dirty in my small kitchen garden or making Terraniums.

I used to visit Indira’s Mahanandi and I’ve just come across this blog. It looks reeeeeeally interesting. I’m always searching for “real” Indian recipes, no matter the region they’re from: my stomach has a passport.
Wishing you all the best luck.

Hi! I live in Atlanta, Georgia (USA), and stumbled across your blog accidentally! My daughter has a best friend whose family is Indian, and I’ve vowed to really learn how to prepare the food this year. Your recipes look amazing, and should serve as a great guide once I figure out all the ingredients. I guess where you are, you do not eat things like butter chicken, or chicken tikka masala? Are these too American? Nevertheless, I am anxious to get (Indian) cooking, and will use your blog as a starting point. Thank you so much for sharing! Best, Kathleen

Thank you for your lovely comment! Not all people in India are vegeterian;infact Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala are very much Indian recipes; only I happen to be a vegeterian. You will find non-veg recipes on some of my favorite sites like :http://www.sanjeevkapoor.com/ or http://www.sailusfood.com/ or some of the foodblogs (on my blogroll). Will be more than Happy to assist you to figure out the ingredients you are not familiar with. Thanks again and love your spirit for making your daughter and her friend Happy!

    Hey Madhuli,

I just stumbled on your blog trying to look for gavar sabzi. and then I landed up stuck to your site for abt 30 – 40 mins! I especially like how you have put together the oat meal recipe. Even the other than you your self have written are simple and encourage your to cook the meal. I like how you have given options within the same dish.

This was my first visit to your site, but its definately not going to be my last…you are going on my blogroll!
