Gourmet Nashik

Over the years I have found it quite challenging to find uncommon cooking ingredients, baking essentials in Nashik.  Frequent trips to Mumbai, especially Crawford market /Hypercity and the likes were the norm for me 2 years back. I still love going to Crawford market (I call it the food shopping paradise) but the trips have become less frequent. The availability of these ingredients and baking essentials in Nashik is improving rapidly. I have found some of the best ingredients and equipments in some of the most unexpected places.

Gourmet Nashik’ is an attempt to share these finds for the benefit of other interested food loving Nashikites.

I will keep on updating the information as and when I get more information. Nashikites your inputs through the comments section to ‘Gourmet Nashik’ are welcome; any information related to cooking/baking ingredients equipments is welcome.

Don’t get fooled by the name! This is a paradise for bakers, especially beginners .It is such a tiny little shop that if you are not careful you might miss this. It is located on one of the busiest streets in the older part of the city but a trip here is worth. Cake pans, tins, cookie cutters, butter paper, piping bags, tips, gels, liquid colours, cake boards, simple plastic cake turntable, cake boxes, confetti, Silver balls, chocolates, spatula, cream horns, icecream cones, measuring spoons and cups and many many more such things

The only caution here I would suggest is the store owner is not a very friendly person. Make a list of things you need in advance and then go and ask him for it instead of depending on him to show you what he has!

Kanti Food Mart

Originally a tea depot but now they have upgraded with the basic baking equipments and accessories. You will find whipping cream (non-diary), silicone moulds, chocolate, piping bags, tips, cake boards, cake boxes, liquid colours etc..

I would suggest you call up the store to enquire the requirement and then go to save heartbreak 🙂

Hi Chinmay. Sorry about this delay. Gourmet breads is a far fetched concept here still…but try Jahagirdar’s bakery, or Albion bakery. You need to pre-order special breads, I think.

Hi Apurva, you can find agar agar at Nilesh supermarket or Meena chemicals or Kanti tea depot which is now Kanti food mart. Ask for veg gelatin if you have problem finding agar agar. Hope this helps
